Dental bridges are a common dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth and are an effective and sufficient alternative to implants. They consist of one or more artificial teeth, which are anchored to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. The natural teeth on either side of the gap serve as the support for the bridge.
Replacing missing teeth helps combat the negative effects and maintains the shape of your face and bite. A missing tooth can cause the teeth surrounding it to move or lean into the gap, which can lead to other problems. Food can also become stuck in the gap, which can later lead to erosion and decay. You may require several removal appointments for this treatment as a temporary bridge may be placed whilst the permanent bridge is being made.
Another option to missing teeth are Dental Implants (link to Implants page) This is another excellent option that provides a stable foundation without involving adjacent teeth. Check out our Implants page for more in-depth information.
A consultation with one of our dentists will help you to decide which bridge would be the best fit for you.
